January 2013 Google surprised me
January 2013 My son & Tina surprised me!
I got most hilarious JibJab eCard http://www.jibjab.com/view/ebUDpBqwv3H9CP9ZEcoX. I am a monster all right, because I taught him names of dinosaurs, all body organs, bones, digestive, respiratory, circulatory systems before he was 3 years old. I was strict mother. Hey, Tina & Robert, You cracked me up.
1/19/2013 Afternoon Tea
Birthday celebration at Palace Hotel San Francisco.
Pinkies up! The proper way to hold the teacup is to place one’s thumb at six o’clock and one’s index and middle fingers at the twelve o’clock position, while gently raising one’s pinkie up for balance.
We (eight ladies) ate scones, then savories and tea sandwiches, then sweets. Social protocols? Never mind… we had a good time without noticing the Faux Pas of others.
1/23/2013 Academy of Sciences
I enjoyed ‘Shakehouse’ and ‘Planetarium Show’.
We entered to (EQ simulation) small living room. Experience the EQ of Loma Prieta (15 seconds of shake simulation). On Oct. 17, 1989 it occurred just before a World Series baseball game was scheduled to begin.
Then, room get darker and image of old downtown appears on the walls. We travel farther back to April 18, 1906. A horse-drawn carriage run wild, bricks start falling from tall buildings. We experience the 32 times stronger shake simulation than Loma Prieta.
Earthquake Planetarium Show
I cannot explain to you, you have to see it yourself.
It is all digital. Projected on the 75-feet-diameter screen by not one, but six different projectors. Who are they creating such spectacular visualization? Two dozen staff members’ previous work includes films in the Star Wars, Load of the Rings, The Matrix, and Pirates of the Caribbean. To make this Earthquake, the team spent 17 months and processed 175 terabytes of digital information.
There are many other things to see. Rainforests of the World, Aquarium, African Hall, Islands of Evolution, Coral Reef, Northern Cal Coast…
1/25/2013 Dinner & Dance at Blackhawk Country Club
Blackhawk Country Club is a highly exclusive country club community. Upscale, lavish homes mesmerize me (Ouch! “to have, and have not” — The gap in our economy is between what we have and what we think we ought to have – and that is a moral problem, not an economic one.(Paul Heyne)). Sure, it is not the same as my neighborhood. Colin & Suzette were gracious hosts. They live gated community behind Balckhawk Plaze. I saw four couples I knew. Of course, I went there alone (remember, I don’t have a partner for many, many years?) People at the table were very nice; they have social grace, slender, good taste in fashion. I wore huge necklace and that was good conversation piece. One of lady at same table and I have same birthday. What a coincident. I was only one who didn’t have a partner. So I danced with Colin, and borrowed husbands from other ladies.
I enjoyed dinner and live music. Colin & Suzette’s dance demonstration pleased everyone.
The things I could never do without … hmm
- Money (purchasing power)
- Emotions (various(over 20 types of) feelings, empathy, loving)
- Imagination (mind’s eye, dreams, inspiration)
- Hope (desire, success, feeling of trust)
- Memories (retained knowledge and experience defines/proves my existence in this world)
- Good health
- Being loved by someone & able to love someone & myself (it is ironic that I don’t have special someone. I didn’t date for last 10 years – – – I should have said I can live without))
My niece Megumi & her family in Japan
I received a New Year’s Card from my niece Megumi. Photo is Megumi with her husband and two boys. I haven’t met two boys yet. They have a beautiful house. I created web pages about their wedding a few years ago. It is located in my personal website within Portfolio, named “Wedding Album”. Click below image of Wedding Album to open web pages.
My son & his wife
My son and Tina have plenty of love for each other. However, just like most young couples, they live stressful life.
God, Buddha, and any eternal being, please give peace and comfort to them.
