Random Encounters

How Everyday, Random Encounters Can Expand your Life?

I admit that I am not good at striking conversations with strangers. Due to my hearing impairment, I always avoided conversation. I simply reply “Thank you” when people compliment me.

Everybody know that social interactions are important for own well-being.
So, I finally gathered courage to say one more sentence addition to “thank you”.
I told myself that (1) Be less critical, (2) Don’t over-analyze my interactions, (3) Be fully engaged.
Since then, I met several nice, interesting people last month and this month.
A woman sent me a email, and she wrote:  “I was charmed to sit next to you at the Jake Heggie event last Tuesday. Let’s stay in touch!”
Wow, Shari, you are so kind !!!
A man who chatted with me in Presidio shuttle bus (for going to Palace of Fine Arts, 100th anniversary of the Panama-Pacific International Exposition (PPIE) said he worked at 150 Spear St. San Francisco for Bank of America. Surprise! Me too, I remember beautiful view of the bay, also I saw Blue Angels practicing Flight on Friday before actual SF Fleet Show from my office window. I was there. 1984 6.2 earthquake centered at Morgan Hill was felt. Yes, building shook. Anyway, I bumped into him (Harry) a few times since PPIE. His appetite / appreciation for History, Music, and Arts in general inspire me.
I have encountered a man with a kinder heart too (name is Doug.)
It is important that you get out of your house and meet people in the real world.

I love my son,
He is a happy, responsible adult. He helps me many things around my house. He lives 90 miles away, even though he comes help me at a moment’s notice. Sometimes he lectures me out of concern, he want me to send email every few days so he will know I am still alive. I forget to do that. So I told him that no news is good news. Well, he tells me that is not good enough.
